Postgraduate Research Experience Survey

PRES Poster

We’re keen to make sure postgraduate research students have the best possible experience while studying at Aston University. To do that we need to know what you think we are doing well and what we can do better. If you’re thinking about taking part in 2019, these are the answers to some of the questions students often ask:

What is it?

The Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) is a national survey run every other year in partnership with the Higher Education Academy (HEA). The results of the survey are used to help the University enhance the student experience of postgraduate research students. The questionnaire takes around 15 minutes to complete.

Why should I take part?

The Postgraduate Research Experience Survey is your chance to tell us your thoughts about your research degree. It is also your opportunity to tell us what you have liked about your time here so far and things you feel could be improved.

What happens to the results?

Your feedback is important. Over 100 universities and colleges take part. This means we can compare your experience against postgraduate research students at other institutions to see if we are supporting your learning as we should. We use the findings to improve our programmes and the learning experience for future students.

What does it cover?

PRES will ask you about things like: supervision, resources, research culture, progression, responsibilities, research skills and professional development.

What do I need to do?

You will receive an email with a link to the questionnaire around March 2019. Simply click on the link or access via MAP to complete the online form.
